Kings Market is proud to be a part of the Friday Harbor community. To show our appreciation to the wonderful people of Friday Harbor, we believe in giving back through financial and volunteer support. We encourage our employees to be involved in service organizations and many people in our company are known in the community for their volunteerism. Financially we have chosen a 1% community donation program as our main outlet for non-profit support. We give 1% of our store receipts submitted by our customers toward the non-profit or their choice. By doing so, our customers dictate which organizations they want our donation dollars to go to. In addition to this program, we have chosen to support a few specific programs in the community which include: The Community Theater Little League of San Juan Island San Juan Island Public Schools The Susan B. Komen Foundation Kings Market employees a number of middle school and high school students during our busy summer months. In addition to a scholarship program for these students, we award a scholarship in the name of Blair King and George Adkins to an outstanding high school graduate. As an annual scholarship, renewable throughout the students' college career, we are proud to distribute over $20,000 yearly to our communities youth. We are proud of our community involvement, and look forward to continuing in the future. We believe this is a wonderful place to live and do business, and appreciate the support the community has given us through the years.
